San Diego Food Bank

The Jacobs & Cushman San Diego Food Bank helps distribute food to an average of 350,000 people in San Diego County each month. You can contribute to their mission by volunteering to clean and package fresh produce, inspect, sort, box, label food donations, or assemble food packages for the organization’s various programs. There’s no training required, and anyone older than 11 can help out as frequently as they want.

Outdoor Outreach

This San Diego organization helps connect youth in under-resourced communities with the power of the outdoors. Volunteers can help Outdoor Outreach out in three different ways: volunteering as a skilled field volunteer, a youth development volunteer, or a special projects volunteer. If you’re a pro at an outdoor activity like surfing or mountain biking, you can put your skills to use as a skilled field volunteer! However, if your skills tend to be more focused on indoor activities like web developing or writing, the special projects volunteer role will likely be more your speed.

Traveling Stories

Do you love to read? Share that love and help children develop literacy skills and a love of reading through Traveling Stories! Volunteers can mentor and read to kids as a reading mentor volunteer or volunteer at their weekly in-person events, helping make sure the program runs smoothly as a virtual help desk volunteer, or pitching in at the organization’s other in-person efforts.

San Diego Humane Society

This one is for the animal lovers out there! The San Diego Humane Society has various volunteer opportunities available, from community engagement, emergency response, animal fostering, helping with animal care and guest services, and more. If your schedule only allows for a quick fix, the Human Society also offers short-term volunteer projects that you can complete at home, like making enrichment items or hosting a donation drive.

Lucky Duck Foundation

This one is near and dear to our hearts here at LNDRY! The Lucky Duck Foundation is committed to helping the homeless in San Diego County. Volunteer opportunities include sorting and distributing boxes of food and water, hygiene kits, and clothing. Want to help out, but don’t have time for an in-person volunteer assignment?

LNDRY partners with the Lucky Duck Foundation to pick up donations of shoes and clothing that will be delivered to homeless service providers throughout the county.

To request your Lucky Duck bag or to schedule a laundry pick up of your own, contact us today!
